Introducing King Mickey the Crown Holder, the ring. - A 1UP classic from November 8, 2011

Heya friends, how is everything? I understand people are shooting at each other through another fictional conflict, maybe sometime in the future there will be one company publishing all of the titles, Modern Battlefield anyone? That’s beside the point. Here’s something cool for all the Disney and fashion nuts, yes there are those people around.

Overseas there was an announcement for a collab between the coture jewelry shops at Beyond Cool and designer Roen. The Mickey Mouse figure ring is only the coolest ring this side of my NiGHTS wedding band. Thankfully mine is one of a kind and not for sale. Of course I wouldn’t mind getting a Mickey ring to balance out my right hand. The ring itself is available in different materials and finishes. It features a hinged joint at the crown so that it can fall over the eyes of Mickey.

This ring is actually based on an earlier figure designed by Roen. "King Mickey the Crown Holder" was a vinyl figure released by Medicom a few years back. The design was a perfect blend of street culture and Disney aesthetics. Medicom holds the Disney license in Japan and released some of the finest figure collectables I’ve ever seen. Thanks to designs by people like Roen they are far more original than the stamped Vinylmation figures that seem to busy collectors in the US.

Japan has a large number of Disney inspired jewelry designs that are released on almost a monthly basis. Many would make Disney collectors insanely jealous in the USA. King Mickey happens to be one of the best releases yet. What do you think.
